Nature Care Organisation (NCO) is a community-based non-profit dedicated to protecting the environment while improving the lives of youth and women in Rwanda.
We integrate sustainable agriculture, beekeeping, tree planting, and community empowerment to build resilient livelihoods and restore ecosystems.
Our mission is to create a future where people and nature thrive together.
Beekeeping plays a critical role in biodiversity conservation, food security, and rural livelihoods. Bees are essential pollinators of crops such as coffee, avocado, mango, and other horticultural plants, which are both economically valuable and environmentally sustainable. However, the decline of bee populations due to deforestation, poor farming practices, and climate change threatens agricultural productivity and community income.
In Rwanda’s Amayaga region (Kamonyi, Muhanga, Ruhango, and Nyanza districts), communities—particularly youth and women—face unemployment, poverty, and lack of sustainable livelihood opportunities. At the same time, deforestation and land degradation are reducing the natural habitats for bees and undermining environmental health.
Nature Care Organization seeks to integrate beekeeping with sustainable agriculture by planting bee-friendly trees, training farmers, supporting youth and women with modern hives, and forming cooperatives. This will enhance pollination services, boost crop yields, conserve the environment, and improve social-economic livelihoods.
